DIAPER BANK NETWORK
LOCATION & CONTACT INFORMATION FLYERS:
Thank you to our partners for making this possible!
General Questions
-
Diaper banks provide free diapering supplies for families with children aged 0 – 5 years.
1 in 3 families in the U.S. experiences diaper need. Babies and toddlers can require up to 12 diapers per day. Diapering costs can easily exceed $100 a month. Families without adequate diapering supplies miss school or work an average of four days per month, experience higher rates of diaper rashes and associated medical expenses, and often are not able to find childcare unless they are able to provide required diapers while in care.
-
In May of 2020, Help Me Grow Pierce County and its partners created the Pierce County Diaper Bank Network with two locations. The need for diapers and diapering supplies continues to grow. PCECN is proud to continue this work across 12 Pierce County sites, serving more than 600 families and 1,000 children each month.
Since its opening, the Diaper Bank Network has distributed over ONE MILLION diapers and 18,000 packs of wipes to over 19,000 families with children under five.
Funding Questions
-
Various public and private grants, as well as generous donations, have been used to supply the diaper bank distribution sites with diapers and wipes. The PCECN Diaper Bank Network is the only diaper bank in Pierce County that is a member of the National Diaper Bank Network that allows for bulk purchasing at reduced rates.
-
Support systems such as SNAP and WIC do not cover diapers or diapering supplies. Beginning November 1, 2023, the recently signed Washington State Diaper Need Act directs a monthly diaper subsidy to be distributed by the Department of Social and Health Services to parent and caregivers who receive TANF and have children under the age of three years.
A first-of-its-kind Federal Diaper Assistance Pilot was announced in September 2022 to provide additional funding to increase diapering supplies and distribution to low-income families. The Washington State Community Action Partnership has been awarded $800,000 to partner with several Washington state agencies, although none are located in Pierce County.
Diaper Distribution Questions
-
Families may pick up one free 3-day supply of diapers or pull-ups and one package of wipes each month. At pick-up, you may be asked to provide your name, phone number, email, race, and number of children to prevent duplication of services. Personal information is not shared, and no identifying information will be used for reporting purposes.
-
Parents, grandparents, and caregivers may pick up diapering supplies and healthcare and social services providers may pick up for their clients. Immigration status is not a factor when accessing a diaper bank site.

Donations & Sponsorship Questions
-
Yes! We accept donations of any brand of new and unused disposable diapers, pull-ups, and wipes at any diaper bank locations. We also accept monetary donations through our website. All donations made to the PCECN Diaper Bank Network are used to purchase diapering supplies to distribute to families in need. Thank you for helping families access this essential supply!
-
We have an Amazon Wishlist to make donating diapers and supplies easy! We gladly accept any brand of diapers, wipes, and diaper rash cream, even if they do not appear on the list.
Diapers in size 6 and 7, and pull-ups in size 2T-3T and 4T-5T are the greatest need due to high demand and manufacturer shortages.
-
While we support the use of cloth diapers, we do not distribute cloth diapers due to the associated costs that are typically out-of-reach for the families we serve.
-
While the PCECN Diaper Bank Network cannot accept donations outside of diapers, wipes, and diaper cream, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department operates multiple Family Resource Centers that often can accept new and gently used baby items to share with families in need. Please reach out to the nearest Family Resource Center to discuss donation guidelines.
-
Absolutely! The National Diaper Bank Network provides a free toolkit to learn more about hosting a diaper drive in your community. To host a diaper drive to benefit the PCECN Diaper Bank Network, please get in touch with First 5 FUNdamentals at admin@first5fundamentals.org or 253-682-1835.

Please contact First 5 FUNdamantals at admin@first5fundamentals.org or call 253-682-1835; we will gladly assist with this request.
